ISLAMABAD : May 11,2023: in a mid night presser Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) chief , Maulana Fazal Ur Rehman, questioned the decision of 3-member Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (SCP) , Umar Atta Bandial, and noted that an emergent meeting of PDM has been summoned for Friday (today) to evolve a uniform strategy to take into account the impact of Thursday’s decision in multi billion rupee corruption case filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against Pakistan Tehreek.e Insaf (PTI) chairman , Imran Khan.
Body language of Maulana Fazal Ur Rehman suggested that the ruling alliance may go for an extra ordinary step to strip of the senior judiciary of its powers.
The ruling alliance can opt for imposition of emergency to what it believes stop senior judiciary from facilitating Imran Khan and his party .
In the day , Defence minister Khawaja Asif , had told an anchor of a private TV channel that the government can use its option of imposing emergency if the courts keep on taking one sided decision to give undue favour to Imran Khan.
Before having press conference , Maulana had a detailed meeting with prime minister , Shahbaz Sharif.
Maulana Fazal Ur Rehman claimed that PTI’s goons attacked sensitive military installations and damaged them on the direction of PTI chairman, Imran Khan.
He said PDM is having emergent meeting on Friday to evolve a uniform policy to stop senior judiciary from acting as a facilitator for Imran Khan.
PDM chief said SCP facilitated Imran Khan in a billion rupee fraud case . He said the parliament had expressed distrust on CJP for behaving like a facilitator for Imran Khan. He added that the apex court instead becoming a facilitator of Imran Khan should have register a case of hi treason against senior leadership of PTI.
Maulana Fazal Ur Rehman said the court encouraged an accused today by granting him relief in multi billion rupee fraud case. He said the court’s behaviour of welding an accused (Imran Khan) could encourage criminals to go for crime and get patting from top court of Pakistan .
PDM chief said one can having difference of opinion with the state institutions, but can not be allowed to attack sensitive installations of the military .
Maulana Fazal Ur Rehman said SCP’s Thursday ‘s decision in favour of Imran Khan was unacceptable .
PTI chief told a journalist that Imran Khan’s goons attacked Pakistan ‘s military installations to weaken Pakistan.
He suggested that SCP bench should hear Khawaja Tariq Rahim’s alleged conversation with PTI leader , Musarat Cheema , to decide their level of independence judiciary.
