ISLAMABAD: As Pakistan continue to work closely with the international community for ensuring lasting peace in Afghanistan, the top military brass is going to brief political leadership on Afghan situation in Rawalpindi on Monday (today).
As per schedule of the briefing, the elected top political leadership , members of the Kashmir committee, members of the defence committee of parliament have been invited to brief on the current situation on Afghanistan.
The military leadership is likely to brief the political leadership on the security measures put in place at crossing points at Pak-Afghan border to check illegal movement into Pakistan. The briefing to be held at general headquarters (GHQ) may also include security related issues at western border of the country. The parliamentarians may also be briefed on the issue of progress made on fence errection at Afghan border to check illegal influx of the people in Pakistan from Afghanistan.
The military leadership may share with the political leadership the issue of recent surge in attacks on the security check posts in Waziristan.
The miscreants are taking benefit of unrest in Afghanistan and they have increased attacks on Pakistan ‘s security personnel.
Pakistan’s forces are on high alert to respond to any attack carried out by the miscreants.
