NAB says protected national assets worth billions in Balochistan.

Islamabad : Major Breakthrough by NAB and Government of Balochistan in Safeguarding National Assets; State Land Worth Billions Recovered; Modern Record System and Digitalization for Preventing Illegal Encroachments in Final Stages; NAB and Balochistan Government Committed to Implementing Zero-Tolerance Policy Against Corruption, an official handout said.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Balochistan has achieved a major breakthrough in restoring state authority and protecting government resources by recovering state land worth billions of rupees. These operations were carried out under the directives of NAB Headquarters with the objective of eliminating illegal encroachments, promoting transparent accountability, and ensuring the recovery of looted national wealth. This success was achieved through the cooperation of the provincial government, the Revenue Department, and the Forest Department, under the guidance of the Chief Minister of Balochistan.

According to details, during the initial inspection of forest land in Balochistan in 2025, it was revealed that there was no formal official record of land transfer for approximately 2.8 million acres of land belonging to the Forest Department. Taking notice of this situation, NAB Balochistan, on the instructions of the Chairman NAB, launched immediate and indiscriminate operations.

In 2025, more than one million acres of government land were recovered, making a recovery of 1,370 billion rupees possible, which is considered one of the largest land recovery operations in the history of Pakistan. Maintaining this momentum, the operations were further accelerated in 2026. Under this, a total of approximately 260,000 acres of land was recovered in Quetta, Sibi, Sherani, Hub, Lasbela, and Gwadar, valued at 414.2 billion rupees, the details of which are as follows:

* 1 – Quetta – 47,000 acres – 354 billion – Forest & Wildlife Dept.
* 2 -Sibi – 2,861 acres -2.3 billion – Forest & Wildlife Dept.
* 3 – Sherani – 15,000 acres – 29 billion -Forest & Wildlife Dept.
*4 – Hub – 153 acres -50 billion -Forest & Wildlife Dept.
*5 – Lasbela -17,000 acres- 2.2 billion -Forest & Wildlife Dept.
* 6 -Gwadar -176,000 acres -25 billion -Forest & Wildlife Dept.

The Government of Balochistan provided full support in this success, while the Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR) Balochistan and the Forest Department also played a key role, as such achievements would not have been possible without inter-departmental cooperation.

It should be noted that NAB is committed to continuing its zero-tolerance policy against corruption and the “land mafia,” and illegal occupation of state land will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Operations will continue indiscriminately, in accordance with the law, and with complete transparency.

Furthermore, priority is being given to the recovery of the remaining government land, while a modern record system, digitalization, and effective monitoring are being promoted to prevent illegal encroachments in the future. In this regard, the digitalization of land in Gwadar has also entered its final stages, which will play an important role in preventing such issues in the future.

It is pertinent to mention that the recovered land is being handed over to the Forest and Wildlife Department so that it can be utilized for public interest and environment-friendly projects, while this campaign will continue with the same spirit across the province, with priority given to the most affected districts.
