Over 200 civil society organisations demand end to toxic lighting through phases out of mercery

ISLAMABAD : More than 200 civil society organisations – including Climate Action Network, CLiC, European Environmental Bureau and the South Africa Climate Change Coalition – have signed an open letter to Rosa Vivien Ratnawati, President of the United Nations Minamata Convention on Mercury-COP4, demanding the end to exemptions for toxic mercury-containing fluorescent lighting products.
The conference, which takes place between 21-25 March in Bali, Indonesia, will address the need for world leaders to endorse the phase-out of mercury due to the health, environmental and economic risks of mercury in lighting. Technical and Evidence-base Lead, Clean Lighting Coalition (CLiC)
