ISLAMABAD : As a result of successful secret talks through third party in Afghanistan , Pakistan has released around 62 Tahreek e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) activists probably to pave way for reaching an agreement with the hard core terrorists’ group to minimize infighting in Pakistan if not to put a complete end to the ongoing fight.
Ehsan Ullah Tipu , a Peshawar-based journalist told a local TV channel during a show on Monday that none of the parties to the fight ( Pakistan and TTP) has confirmed the release of TTP activists so for, but his sources in Afghanistan and Waziristan, have confirmed the release of TTP activists.
“The talks for release of TTP activists have been held in Afghanistan and it resulted in success that were followed by setting free 62 TTP activists’, Ehsan Ullah Tipu claimed referring his sources in Afghanistan.
According to Ehsan Ullah Tipu, Afghanistan government has played a key role in facilitating talks between the representatives of what the journalist claimed the government of Pakistan and TTP leadership.
“My sources in Afghanistan confirmed me today (Monday) that Siraj uddin Haqani who is among top leaders of Taliban leaders now in government in Afghanistan played a key role in bringing TTP back on negotiation table “, Ehsan Ullah Tipu told the anchor person and host of the show that TTP claimed when he contacted that the fighters released by the government of Pakistan were not recommended by TTP leadership.
Pakistan had initiated talks with TTP soon after forming government in Afghanistan and it remained positive to some degree as initially both parties announced cease fire and intended to take it to next stage to reach a formal agreement to denounce fighting but after some conditions like release of arrested TTP fighters stalled the negotiation process. This was followed by an official announcement by Pakistan that it will use all options to delete TTP from Pakistan .
After a gap of almost two months ,Pakistan has reportedly accepted TTP demand and released its 62 activists.
