ISLAMABAD: The Met Office has warned that the country is heading for hazardous storms and flash flooding in next couple of days and directed to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Indus River System Authority (IRSA) and district administration across Azad Kashmir, Khyber Pukhtunkhaw (KPK), Gilgit Baltistan and upper Punjab to be ready to face the situation and protect the lives and properties of the people from upcoming flash floods which could be even more deadlier the last week’s downpour.
Last week, flash floods had damaged many parts of the country causing huge loss of property and human lives, Islamabad had also witnessed worse rain burst that caused flash floods in hilly part of the federal capital, It damaged properties besides killing at least three people in E11 sector in Islamabad,
In an SoS to all concerned federal and provincial departments, Met Office on Friday said “ Met office informed that Monsoon currents are pertaining in upper parts of the country and likely to continue till Tuesday next”.
Met Office said under the influence of the current weather 9With isolated heavy falls) is expected in Kashmir , Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Minawali, Tank, Kohat, Peshawar, Nagar Hunza, Ghanche, Diamir, Ghizer, Dera Ghazi Khan and Sahiwal.
It added that heavy rains may generate flash flood in Shangla, Buner, Abbotabad, Swat, Kohistan , Narowal, Sialkot and some other parts of the country in next two to three days. It warned of landsliding in some hilly area of the country.
