Pakistan introduces incentives to facilitate import from Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD. On returning from a day- long visit to Kabul along with a high level delegation, foreign minister , Shah Mahmood Qureshi, urged upon the international community to extend diplomatic and financial support to new Afghan government and the people of that war-torn country to avert looming human crisis.
Mr Qureshi shared the outcome of his one- day visit to Kabul at a press conference here on Thursday.

He announed a number of measures to facilitate Afghan traders to export their products to Pakistan and beyond. These measures included opening- up of entry points round the clock to facilitate Afghan exporters to export their products to Pakistan.Pakistan has also withdrawn import duty on import of fruits, vegetables, dry fruits and other perishable produce from Afghanistan. Pakistan has also introduced a number of measures to facilitate bilateral trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan like removal of PCR test condition for Afghan traders on their entry to Pakistan. Afghan traders will also get 30 days Pakistan visa on arrival at border entry points. To make bilateral trade even a deeper relationship between the two countries, Pakistan embassy in Kabul will provide 5 years visa to Afghan businessmen.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi said he talked to Afghan leadership on bilatral issues, besides suggesting them some measures to have an inclusive government to secure recognition for Taliban government in Afghanistan. He said Taliban leadership has acknowledged Pakistan’s support for new Afghan government. He also announced Rs 5 billion support for Afghanistan on humanitarian ground.
