Pakistan thanks US president Trump for extending ceasefire deadline for ME

PM Shahbaz says Pakistan to carry on mediatory efforts to bring US and Iran on negotiations table

Islamabad : The US president, Donald Trump, has extended the deadline for the Middle East (ME) on the request of Pakistan.

With the deadline of two-week ceasefire setting to expire on wee hours on Wednesday, Pakistan had made a formal request to the US president , Donald Trump, to extend the deadline to provide more time to Iran to submit a formal proposal for the second round of talks in Islamabad.

The US president after consulting with his team on Tuesday, a few hours before expiry of 2-week ceasefire deadline , agreed to extend the deadline and give more time to Iran to give its proposal for peace talks in Islamabad.

Pakistan is making desperate efforts to avert the crisis in ME and find a peaceful solution to the conflict.

Pakistani leadership , both civil and military, is making every possible effort to make the second round of Islamabad talks happen.

After US president , Donald Trump’s extension in the deadline, Pakistan is very much hopeful that its efforts for peace in ME will succeed.

Prime Minister , Shahbaz Sharif, posted a message for thanking the US president for extending the deadline for ME.

Washington has also put US vice president , JD Vance’s visit to Islamabad for talks with Iranian leadership on hold.

“On my personal behalf and on behalf of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, I sincerely thank President Trump for graciously accepting our request to extend the ceasefire to allow ongoing diplomatic efforts to take their course.

With the trust and confidence reposed in, Pakistan shall continue its earnest efforts for negotiated settlement of conflict.

I sincerely hope that both sides will continue to observe the ceasefire and be able to conclude a comprehensive ‘Peace Deal’ during the second round of talks scheduled at Islamabad for a permanent end to the conflict”.
