ISLAMABAD : October 29,2022: Pakistan on Saturday welcome release of its citizen ,Saif Ullah Paracha , from Gauntanamo Bay where he was detained by the US authorities on the charges of financing Al-Qaeda.
Pakistan Foreign Office issued a statement on the release of Saif Ullah Paracha from Gauntanama Bay. It reads
” Mr. Saif Ullah Paracha, a Pakistani national, who was detained in Guantanamo Bay, has been released and reached Pakistan on Saturday, 29 October, 2022. The Foreign Ministry completed an extensive inter-agency process to facilitate repatriation of Mr. Paracha. We are glad that a Pakistani citizen detained abroad is finally reunited with his family”.
Saifullah Paracha was detained by US secret intellegence agency –FBI–in a sting operation in Thailand in 2003.
Saif Ullah Paracha was detained on charges of funding Al-Qaeda, but he was never tried in Guantanamo Bay .
Saif Ullah Paracha has been released from Guantanamo Bay after 19 years .
