RAWALPINDI: A cricket match was played between PEL and Al-Haaj teams at Morgah cricket ground. Both teams seemed very passionate to make good show and win the match. Since it was a T20 contest. Al-Haaj team captain, Awais Ghauri and PEL captain, Fawad Naseer, witnessed the toss of the match. Al-Haaj team won the toss and opted for batting first. Al-Haaj team made 141 runs in 20 overs. PEL showed robust performance in the field and its fielders stopped many boundaries to restrict Al-Haaj team to a total score of 141 runs.

PEL opened up its score aggressively. Its captain played a fine inning and made 81 score not out. Amir Baig who came on the crease despite having injured in a bid to hit a ball for four. He gave a fantastic stand to his captain and played a key role in win of PEL against Al-Haaj. Amir Baig had a typical feature. He remained undefeated in five matches.

Fawad Naseer played a captain’s knock . He took 1/18 in 3 overs and scored 81* ( 45 ), with wickets tumbling on the other end at regular intervals, he kept his cool and snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. He reminded me of kapil dev vs Zimbabwe in 1983 WC, where he scored 175* ( 138 ). When his team was in trouble with 5/19. Fawad stood till the end and ensured that PEL crossed the finish line.

Earlier , Amir Baig was hit on his face by a nasty bouncer with blood not stopping; he was rushed to the hospital after being given first aid. The doctor gave him two injections and told him to get an X-ray and stitches on urgent basis. However Baig insisted on going back to the field. When the ninth wicket fell, we still required 15 more runs to win . while Amir Baig was justified in calling it a day, he decided against it , padded up and walked in , much to the surprise of everyone, especially the umpires and the players of AL HAJ who were celebrating a bit early. Amir Baig refused to take a runner and faced two deliveries before giving the strike to fawad, who then finished it off with a 2,6,6, and the winning single.

Fawad Naseer was judged Man of the Match but he called Amir Baig and shared his award with him. True depiction of leadership, commitment and bravery by his duo.
