Lahore: September 13, 2026 : Prime Minister , Shahbaz Sharif , on Sunday announced a special relief package to cushion public burden from rising oil prices.

Taking immediate notice of the growing financial burden on the public caused by the recent escalation in global oil prices amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, the Prime Minister has announced a special relief package to provide direct support to vulnerable vehicle users, a statement of Prime Minister Office (PMO) said.

“The government fully understands the burden being placed on the people due to the increase in petrol prices,” the Prime Minister said.

To mitigate the impact of rising petrol prices on motorcycle, rickshaw, Qingqi and small-car users, a special relief scheme is being launched, the Prime Minister announced.

Under the scheme, a relief of Rs. 100 per litre on petrol will be provided to users of motorcycles, rickshaws, Qingqi vehicles and cars with engine capacity of up to 800cc.

For motorcycles, rickshaws, Qingqi and other two- and three-wheelers, relief of Rs. 100 per litre will be provided on up to 20 litres of petrol per month.

Similarly, owners of small cars with engine capacity up to 800cc will receive relief of Rs. 100 per litre on up to 30 litres of petrol per month.

The scheme will be implemented within the Islamabad Capital Territory from the night between Monday and Tuesday, while its implementation across Pakistan, including Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, will begin from the night between Wednesday and Thursday, the Prime Minister said.

Registration for the special relief scheme has commenced today. Details of the registration process and eligibility criteria will be communicated to the public through a comprehensive awareness campaign.

The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the provincial governments for their cooperation in providing the necessary information and data relating to motorcycles, rickshaws and small vehicles for registration under the scheme.

The oil pricing are on the rise in the international market as US and Iran keep trading attacks on vessels carrying crude oil and LNG for most of the Asian countries. Pakistan, like other nations, is facing risk of oil supply amid rising attacks on oil vessels by Iran and US.
