ISLAMABAD: Prime minister, Imran Khan, on Tuesday approved appointment of Lieutenant general , Nadeem Anjum, as new director general Inter Services Intellegence (ISI).
The prime minister office fornally issued a notification of the new director general ISI appointment here. The notification said the incumbent director general ISI , lieutenant general, Faiz Hameed, will remain director general ISI till November 19, 2021 and new ISI boss …lieutenant general Nadeem Anjum…will take charge on November 20, 2021.
With formal announcement of the new director general ISI a buz of rumours and conspiracy theories will come to a grinding halt.
According to media reports, prime minister, Imran Khan, had a consultative meeting with army chief, Qamar Javed Bajwa, before granting approval of the new director general ISI. The prime minister also discussed with the army chief change of command of ISI. The formal announcement of the new director general ISI will dispel impression of souring relationship between the government and the military leadership.
