PM orders inquiry into “illegal” promotions case in DRAP

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister , Shahbaz Sharif, has ordered inquiry into “illegal” promotion of 13 grade 18 officers of Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) to grade 19. Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) chief , Asim Rauf and DRAP’s acting director Admin, Mr Obaidullah, have been accused of undermining the basic principle of merit and transparency in this case.
Noor Mohammad Shah, a DRAP’s senior officer, has raised the issue of illegal promotions of senior officers in DRAP in his petition filed with Federal Service Tribunal. Noor Mohammad Shah is fighting for merit and transparency in DRAP for long. For raising voice against illegal promotions and other illegal actions of DRAP’s top management, Noor Mohammad Shah was victimized by his organization. His promotion for which he deserved the most was not done for exposing corruption in DRAP.

DRAP is epicenter of corruption. Asim Rauf and his cronies are free to go to any length for any illegal action which could bring them ill-gotton money. This dirty business is going on in DRAP since its inception. The corrupt mafia in DRAP is so powerful that it can fix up any officer having integrity and believes in fair play. Noor Shah is not the only DRAP’S officer who is victimized by Asim Rauf and his predecessor , Akhtar Hussain Shaikh who enjoyed corruption in DRAP for decades and finally was caught in corruption case after his retirement. DRAP chief ,Asim Rauf, is continuity of Akhtar Hussain Shaikh to make DRAP even more corrupt institution. Both Asim Rauf and Akhtar Hussain Shaikh remained un-touchable as they have powerful Godfathers who protect them and any other member of Asim Rauf’s company in DRAP when needed in hard times. The same mafia sprang up in action when ex DRAP chief, Akhtar Hussain Shaikh , was arrested in Islamabad on the direction of Islamabad High Court (IHC) in a corruption case.

Young Pharmacists Association (YPA) had taken the matter to the prime minister through a letter.
After enjoying full protocol and liberty to mint money and let their master mint money in DRAP, finally DRAP’s chief, Asim Rauf and his close aide and Acting Director Admin, Mr Obaidullah, are now on the radar of the prime minister. The prime minister has ordered a thorough inquiry into the case of illegal promotions of senior officers of DRAP.
After the notice of the prime minister , one hopes the corrupt mafia led by DRAP chief , Asim Rauf , will be fixed and DRAP will observe transparency and merit in its decisions.
