ISLAMABAD : April 27,2023: Prime minister , Shahbaz Sharif , took the vote of confidence from the national assembly here on Thursday . He got 180 votes .
The decision to take vote of confidence from the national assembly had come in the wake of the remarks of Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) , Umar Atta Bandial , who had remarked during the proceedings into the polls delay case that the prime minister has lost the majority in the house.
After getting the vote of confidence the prime minister addressed the lower house and made it clear that his government will not accept any decision of three- -member bench hearing the polls delay case as it would be a minority and not a majority decision . He referred the ruling of those four judges who had termed the CJP decision to take suo moto in the case unlawful .
The prime minister said the parliament was a supreme institution and it has the authority to make the law and this right can not be given to any other organ of the state . He added that any decision of 3-member bench hearing the polls delay case will not be accepted .
Meanwhile ,. a proposal to summon CJP in the parliament and indict him for using threatening remarks during the proceedings is also being debated at different forums .
More than one coalition partners want that the speaker of the national assembly should issue summon to CJP over his derogatory remarks to snub the parliament during the proceedings of the polls delay case.
