Islamabad August 3, 2026: Brig Aamer Reza Tippu, Secretary Health, GoAJ&K and Prof. Dr. Fasal Bashir, Chairman Joint Admission Committee, met with the Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj, President PMDC, Brig Rehan Naqvi (Retd), Registrar PMDC and Mr. Dr. Imdad Ali Khushuk, Director Admission Affairs PMDC to discuss issues relating to the registration of AJ&K students for the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT).
During the meeting, the Secretary Health AJ&K highlighted the difficulties being faced by students from AJ&K in completing their MDCAT registration due to the prolonged internet shutdown in the region. The Secretary requested PMDC to facilitate the affected students and ensure that no eligible candidate is deprived of the opportunity to appear in the examination.
The President PMDC informed the delegation that PMDC had already taken several special measures to facilitate students from AJ&K. He further stated that the Government of Pakistan remains committed to ensuring that all eligible students from AJ&K are able to appear in the MDCAT.
The President PMDC also highlighted that, in view of the exceptional circumstances, the registration deadline was extended twice with the normal registration fee—from 8 July to 13 July 2026, and subsequently from 13 July to 23 July 2026 to provide maximum convenience to students from AJ&K.
PMDC has implemented the following facilitation measures for AJ&K students:
a. Extension of the MDCAT registration deadline with the normal registration fee.
b. Acceptance of registration applications through WhatsApp, email, and physical submission.
c. Students experiencing registration difficulties may directly contact PMDC, which will provide the necessary assistance to enable them to appear in the MDCAT.
d. Establishment of a special MDCAT Examination Centre in Islamabad for students from AJ&K to facilitate their participation in the MDCAT. PMDC has also issued a public notice and designated a focal person to assist AJ&K students with registration and examination-related matters.
The President and Registrar PMDC assured the Secretary Health AJ&K and the Chairman of the Joint Admission Committee of their full cooperation. During the meeting, they also agreed in principle to establish a PMDC Sub-Office in AJ&K to improve access to PMDC services for students and healthcare professionals in the region. The proposal will be placed before the PMDC Governing Body for formal approval.
The Secretary Health AJ&K and the Chairman of the Joint Admission Committee expressed their sincere appreciation to the President and Registrar PMDC for their timely initiatives and continued support for the students of AJ&K. They acknowledged PMDC commitment to addressing the concerns of AJ&K students and ensuring that they receive every possible facilitation during the MDCAT registration and examination process.
