Islamabad 20th June 2026: The President Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, Prof.Dr. Rizwan Taj chaired a comprehensive meeting with all Heads of Departments (HODs), in the presence of the Registrar PM&DC to review departmental performance and to address operational challenges, and formulate measures to enhance efficiency, transparency, and service delivery across the organization.
During the meeting, each Head of Department presented a detailed briefing on progress achieved, pending matters, staff punctuality, operational issues, and proposed reforms.
Extensive deliberations and several important decisions have been taken to further strengthen institutional performance and improve public service delivery. The Finance Department was directed to prioritize the processing of verification of financial documents relating to medical and dental colleges, as well as applications concerning dual fee payments and fee refunds. A dedicated tracking system, in coordination with the Information Technology Department, will be introduced to facilitate the timely disposal of such cases.
The Licensing Department was appreciated for its prompt disposal of licensing cases by the president however, he directed the department to further reduce pendency (if any) by expediting renewal cases and processing license extensions on a priority basis.
The Information Technology Department was tasked with developing a dashboard for monitoring inspection progress and general updates for the Minister In-Charge. Weekly reports on pending complaints received through the Complaint Management System (CMS) will be submitted to the President every Friday. The department was further instructed to ensure verification of information displayed on the PM&DC website by all sections and to develop an online inspection portal on a priority basis.
The Legal Department was appreciated on the timely disposal of all pending disciplinary cases and emphasized that complaints involving loss of life during treatment must be dealt with urgently to ensure expeditious dispensation of justice. Dedicated software solutions for the Legal and Disciplinary Committee Sections will also be developed.
The Inspection Department was instructed to undertake digitization initiatives and design master trainer programmes in coordination with the IT Department.
With regard to the Faculty Department, directions were issued to ensure the reactivation of inactive faculty members through coordination with medical and dental institutions. Measures were also approved for the elimination of duplicate entries and verification of active faculty records to ensure the integrity and authenticity of the faculty database.
The Validation Department was directed to present details of pending verifications in the next meeting and to resolve issues relating to fees deposited under incorrect heads in consultation with the IT Department.
In the Experience Department, It was decided to boost staff working efficiency. Capacity-building workshops for officers and officials will also be conducted over the next four weeks.
The Examination Department was directed to place an appropriate alert on the PM&DC official website to protect the public from fraudulent and fake MDCAT portals.
The President further highlighted that monthly meetings with Heads of Departments shall be held on the first Monday of every month. Departments were directed to maintain strategic roadmaps, ensure timely disposal of complaints through the Complaint Management System, and maintain updated institutional data for submission whenever required.
The President stressed on the importance of discipline, accountability, and digital transformation, stating that following the implementation of the Electronic File System (EFS), physical files would no longer be entertained. Heads of Departments were also directed to ensure proper workforce management.
