Lahore : Jan 12 : The Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q) held an emergent meeting here on Friday which decided not to go forward for seat adjustment with Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) for February 8 elections.
The meeting chaired by PMLQ chief Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain also showed concern over PMLN policy of preferring its candidates in those constituencies which were identified for seat adjustments with PMLQ for February 8 elections.
A handout issued by PMLQ media cell said PMLQ always believes in serving Pakistan and its people and it will keep continuing its policy of serving the nation than looking after a person specific interests. PMLQ added that it will keep playing a role for prosperity of Pakistani people. PMLQ handout made it clear that the seat adjustment restricting to its top leaders was not acceptable.
According to PMLQ , PMLN has issued tickets to its candidates against PMLQ candidates which is negation of seat adjustment formula agreed between the two some weeks ago.
PMLN and PMLQ had reached to an understanding for seat adjustment as a follow up of a top level leadership interaction of both parties. However , later PMLN had second thought on the issue creating problems for PMLQ top leadership. PMLN wants seat adjustment for Gujrat constituencies where Chaudhary Salik Hussain and Chaudhary Shafay Hussain sones of Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain are contesting elections for February 8, 2024. PMLN is not interested in adjusted other PMLQ candidates and it resulted in quick reaction from PMLQ on Friday. Keeping in view the party policy and reservations of its senior leaders , PMLQ is preferring to go for elections without any adjustment with PMLN. PMLQ media cell’,s handout clearly states that it is not interested in seat adjustment for Gujrat only and asks PMLN to award tickets to its candidates and PMLQ will compete with them for February 8 elections.
PMLQ secretary general , Chaudhary Shafay Hussain told a TV anchor in the evening that his party is ready to contest elections without any seat adjustment. He said PMLN defied seat adjustment formula .
