On Wednesday 8th March 2023 at around 2250 hrs, while seated in Hujra of my beloved school fellow Honourable Haider Ali Shah in Swat , that his young son Hamza perturbed by the graphic contents that was being circulated on social media compelled me write this piece
It is regarding the Punjab Police ruthless handling of protesters in Lahore amid the strict state imposed censorship that spilled innocent blood, as a result of the power tussle between the state and the ordinary citizens .
Here I will compliment the Punjab Police to have acted more as a political force than a state run civil force that is supposed to protect the fundamental rights of the citizens, as enshrined in the constitution of the country. I wonder what prevented the PTI run Punjab Government then to bring to book those black sheep in the Punjab Police, who acted as political mercenaries of the then PML N Government in the model town massacre.
Sadly, honourable Tahir Ul Qadri, also maintained criminal silence ever since, over the cold blooded murder of his workers, who sacrificed their lives for his cause. It is this sad betrayal of the gullible citizens by the political leadership that emboldens the police take law in their hands time and again, as a sensible professional course to safeguard personal interest than to foolishly stand for political causes, no matter how righteous, at the end turn out to be yet another story of great betrayal by the exploitative political leadership of their workers.
As soon as these power greedy political leadership reach the corridors of power, riding the corpses of their workers that their sacrifices are forgotten and the very killers employed to protect them against the very people whom they once used as political shield to fight their political wars in which sadly the ultimate loser is the ordinary citizens that unfortunately both the state and the political parties use as a fodder of their guns that they keep pointing at each other from time to time in this sinister power tussle .
While this dirty political power tussle goes on the establishment looks the other way making the nation pay the price for pointing fingers at their misdoings that sadly is getting worse once their silence is taken as their complicity and endorsement of this recipe of disaster in which ultimately the biggest losers would be the very ones whom the state pays to protect the very people on whose shoulders rest the foundation of the state.
I doubt anyone in the whole structure of the state whether the Judiciary, Executive, Parliament or the Establishment realises their own blunder that use force creates more counter force and hatred that ultimately will cause them their own jobs, perks and privileges as there is a limit to every injustice and now that limit seems to have reached, once ordinary citizens are killed by the state for political reasons
This sad incident of the Punjab Police use of unjustified force against the unarmed citizens is reflective of the State being not only unfair to its own citizens rather its stubbornly defiance to submit to the will of the people is what makes the ordinary citizens wonder whether this on – going whole exercise is aimed at making or breaking Pakistan.
God save Pakistan that seems to be the last priority first being the power to which everyone clings as if there will be no another day or country that they could destroy as foolishly as they are destroying Pakistan. One is left dumbfounded wondering is it the greed alone or mere foolishness or just selfishness that Pakistan feed them with her blood while they bleed her to death when her innocent citizens blood is spilled on her streets
