Islamabad : Nov 24 : Faced with mounting pressure from political opponents , Pakistan People Party (PPP) seems in dither as father- son differences get more ground after recent developments.
In an unequivocal manners , father (Mr Zardari) had labelled son (Mr Bilawal ) as a new entrant in Pakistan ‘s politics in his interview aired by a private TV channel the other day. In less than 24 hours from senior Zardari ‘s interview , Mr Bilawal left Pakistan for Dubai in a private aeroplane.
The people of Pakistan were still assessing the possible reason of Mr Bilawal ‘s unplanned departure to Dubai when Asif Zardari also took a flight for Dubai in the same evening. Unexpected and mysterious departure of father and son in private jets fuelled speculations in Pakistan of serious differences between the two . Differences between Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari saw the day light some three months ago when the former took opposite position on the political narrative of the former of not getting level playing field for upcoming elections. Bilawal Bhutto had made the narrative a saleable product to attract the voters in the next elections and he was banking heavily on it to win the next electrons .
In sheer contrast to Bilawal ‘s claims , Asif Zardari contradicted Bilawal and publicly announced that PPP has no issue like one of level playing. After around three months , Asif Zardari came hard on Bilawal Bhutto in his interview given to a private TV channel on November 23. He told the interviewer that he as chief of PPPP will issue tickets to the party candidates including Bilawal Bhutto. Whatever could be the reason of Mr Bilawal ‘s departure to Dubai it will hurt PPP in the longer term.
In a related and important development , senator Farhatullah Babar resigned as secretary general of PPP here on Friday. Though Farhatullah Babar claims he has resigned as PPP secretary general due to work load the timing of his resignation from important position of secretary general of the party suggests that things are not norma in PPP. PPP is in the eye of the storm and differences between Asif Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto are going to ditch it further.
