Islamabad : Pakistan Tehreek -e Insaf (PTI) of jailed ex-prime minister , Imran Khan , has called – off its long march on Islamabad earlier set for September 27 without mentioning any reason of taking its earlier decision back.
PTI took the decision of calling-off September 27 long march in its political committee meeting held on Friday. PTI top leadership including chief minister ,Sohail Afridi , and the opposition parties’ leadership including Mahmood Khan Achackzai and Raja Nasir Abbas were present in the meeting.
The meeting also decided that any decision for future long march will be jointly taken by Mahmood Khan Achackzai and Raja Nasir Abbas.
PTI had announced long march on Islamabad some two weeks ago and since then the federal government was on its toes to make arrangements to block it. The federal government had unimbigously announced that it will not allow any party including PTI to march on Islamabad for any protest. The federal government had put in place unprecedented checks in Islamabad to foil PTI long march of September 27. It had placed thousands of containers on the roadsides in Islamabad and Rawalpindi for blockade of roads in the twin cities, besides blocking traffic on M I motorway to stop any march by PTI from KP. As a part of its hardline policy , the federal government had deployed Rangers to stop any possible long march of PTI. In another coercive move , the government had launched crackdown on PTI leaders and activities and the police had arrested hundreds of PTI stalwarts including three sisters of PTI founding chairman , Imran Khan.
Reason may be any one , but PTI ‘s decision to call of its September 27 has provided relief to every Pakistani. At this point in time when Pakistan is fighting a fierce war against terrorists , PTI long march was a cause of concern for every Pakistani . There was also enhanced danger of terrorism during PTI march and it could have, God forbid , very dangerous fall out for Pakistan. PTI should also be appreciated for reading out the situation correctly and taking back its decision of holding long march on Islamabad on September 27, 2026.
