PTI gets bat back , ECP mulling to move SCP

Peshawar : Jan 11 : The Pakistan Tehreek – e – Insaf (PTI) has got a major relief from the Peshawar High Court (PHC) which on Wednesday revoked the decision of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) of December 22 to withdraw its electoral symbol of bat. The court in its short order declared ECP as illegal and ruled that as per constitution ECP has no authority to take back bat as symbol of PTI. With just three weeks to go in February 8 elections ,

PHC’s decision is a big relief to PTI and it can give an impetus to Imran party to go for February 8 elections . PTI had challenged ECP decision’s of December 22 last in PHC . ECP had withdrawn PTI symbol of bat by declaring the party elections unlawful. PHC decision is a big win of PTI and it can provide a big relief to its candidates. PTI lawyer senator Ali Zafar said PHC’s decision is a big victory of PTI and it can ensure free and fair elections on February 8,2024. He also congratulated the PTI in particular and the nation in general over PHC ‘s decision to give bat back to PTI. Ali Zafar claimed that after getting bat back PTI can not be stopped from winning the elections .

PTI chairman, Gohar Ali Khan, appreciated PHC decision to nullify ECP decision to withdraw bat from PTI. Speaking to the media persons in Rawalpindi , Mr Gohar said after winning back bat , PTI will announce its candidates names on Thursday. He added that bat is more than a symbol for PTI. PTI senior leader , Taimour Jugra said according to PHC decision , ECP had no power to withdraw bat as PTI’s symbol. He claimed that ECP’s behaviour in the case of PTI is partial . Meanwhile , some media reports said ECP is mulling to challenge PHC decision in the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP).

Meanwhile , Imran Khan and many other party leaders including Shah Mahmood Qureahi , Pervez Elahi and his son Moonis Elahi could not win qualification for February 8 elections .
