ISLAMABAD: Parliamentary secretary for Law and Justice, Ms Maleeka, has declared that the Pakistan Tehreek- e- Insaf (PTI) government was ready to face-off any challenge.
She made this assertion while addressing a press conference with Law minister, Faroogh Nasim here on Friday.
Ms Maleeka said the government fulfilled its promises made to the masses and legislation on women issues like share in property and other movable and immoveable assets for widow and kids after death of husband and change in Hadood laws to punish those involved in heinous crimes against women like rape and murders was its practical proof. She said the government was going to setup centres at local level to guide and help women folk against any heinous crimes. She also declared that under the new law the proceedings in any rape case will be held in-camera. In the past, Ms Maleeka claimed the respective government ignored the issues of the women folk that promoted the culture of crimes against the women in the society. She claimed that the new laws will curb criminal activities against the women folk in the society. She said special courts to decide rape cases in four months.
The Parliamentary secretary appreciated “hard work of Faroogh Nasim for making the legislation for protection of women folk possible. She said “ The Law minister comes from our allies and honestly speaking he worked very hard to prepare the draft of bills passed in the last joint session of the parliament.
