Punjab Arts Council hosts candlelight vigil , prayer ceremony

Rawalpindi; In a heartfelt tribute to the bravery and sacrifices of the martyrs of Marka- e- Haq and the courageous armed forces of Pakistan, the Punjab Council of the Arts Rawalpindi hosted a poignant Candlelight Vigil and Prayer Ceremony. The event, which aimed to honor the martyrs of Operation Bannyan ul Marsoos and pay homage to the landmark military operation against India, saw the participation of several distinguished individuals from different religious backgrounds, further reinforcing the spirit of unity, patriotism, and interfaith solidarity in Pakistan.

The candlelight vigil, organized by the Punjab Council of the Arts, was a solemn event, commemorating the brave souls who laid down their lives in defense of Pakistan’s sovereignty and honor. The vigil, held at the heart of Rawalpindi, was attended by a large number of citizens, including military personnel, civilians, and families of martyrs. The ambiance was filled with reverence as the soft glow of candles illuminated the evening, symbolizing the eternal remembrance of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
Among the martyrs particularly honored during the ceremony were those who fought valiantly in the significant military operation, Operation Bannyan ul Marsoos, which has been recognized as a turning point in Pakistan’s defense history. As part of the ceremony, a prayer session was led by various religious leaders, including Director Arts Council Sajjad Hussain, Pastor Qamaruz Zaman, Pastor Farooq Anwar, Pastor Sajjad Younas, Pastor Kaleem Shaukat, and Pastor Emanuel Khokhar.

These religious figures, representing different denominations of Christianity, came together in a show of interfaith harmony to offer prayers for the health, safety, and success of Pakistan’s armed forces. The prayer ceremony underscored the deep-rooted unity of Pakistan’s diverse communities in the face of national challenges.

Director of the Punjab Council of the Arts, Mr. Sajjad Hussain addressed the gathering, spoke about the significance of such an event in fostering national unity and remembrance. He emphasized the importance of upholding the values of peace, tolerance, and respect for all individuals, regardless of their religious or ethnic backgrounds.
