Shaukat Tareen no more in good books of PM

Hammad Azhar may continue as federal finance minister

ISLAMABAD: Prime minister, Imran Khan, has changed his mind to hire Shaukat Tareen as his finance minister after latter’s rant wherein he had termed initial response of Pakistan Tehreek – e – Insaf (PTI) economic team to International Monetary Fund (IMF) as extremely poor.

Soon after replacing Hafeez Shaikh with Hammad Azhar as head of his economic team, prime minister Imran Khan, had made up mind to make another quick move and hire Shaukat Tareen as his finance minister.

But Shaukat Tareen’s rant against PTI government blaming its economic team of giving poor response to IMF in initial talks annoyed the prime minister and for the same he has decided not to hire Shaukat Tareen as his finance minister.

Shaukat Tareen is known for his hard hitting remarks in the past too. He is blunt and speaks from his heart.

Keeping his nature- up, Shaukat Tareen had given his honest opinion a few days ago in his talk with electronic media regarding PTI government ‘s handling of issues with IMF in 2019. Many other top economists like Dr Ashfaq Hasan Khan and Dr Salman Shah do have the same views on the issue in debate in the past.

These reputed economists have the same opinion that PTI government had taken months to decide weither it should go to IMF for a bail out package in 2019 or not that added to Pakistan’s economic woes.

Imran Khan himself had taken the delayed decision seriously and replaced his economic wizard and first finance minister, Asad Umar, from the office.
But now the same views from Shaukat Tareen have become indigestable for him.

After the second thought on hiring of Shaukat Tareen Hammad Azhar can continue as finance minister.
