ISLAMABAD: The Sindh High Court (SHC) decision of rejecting a petition seeking further delay in holding the national MDCAT has paved way for conductimg the entry test for admission in medical and dental colleges as per schedule on November 29, 2020.
A Karachi-based lawyer had filed a petition before the SHC to seek further delay in holding national MDCAT , claiming the Pakistan Medical Cimmission (PMC) was violating the court decision by issuing the date for national MDCAT without announcing syllabus for the entry test.
The court rightly turned down the point of view of the petitioner and directed PMC to hold national MDCAT as per its schedule.
Other than the petitioner lawyer some other factors also played their role to get the national MDCAT postponed .
For example, what moral and national obligation Ch Moonus Elahi had to demand postponement of national MDCAT?.
His whole qualification is that he is a son of Ch Pervez Elahi. God knows when we will stop playing politics in matters of national significance.
The Sindh High Court turned down these calls that ensured holding of national MDCAT without further delay .
One must appreciate Dr Faisal Sultan, special advisor to prime minister on Health for his courgious reponse to all those who wanted delay in holding national MDCAT.
Dt Faisal Sultan had categorically and logically proved that holding of national MDCAT with complete standard operating procedures (SoPs) will not become a source of surge in corona cases in Pakistan. It was a clear equation that
any further delay in holding national MDCAT could waste a full year of the aspiring students.
Thanks to SHC and others departments which timely read the motive behind the petitions and calls made to seek cancellation or delay in holding the entry test.
The students who have been registered for giving national MDCAT will appear in the test tomorrow (November 29 2020).
The students will report to their respective centres by 9 am. The test will span over 2 and half hours. The students will be required to answer 200 mcqs in the stipulated time.
The weightage formula as per subject for national MDCAT will be like this. Biology 80 mcqs, chemistry 60, Physics 40 and English 20 mcqs.
Meanwhile, with the approval of its medical and dental council , PMC has barred students having positive corona test from appearing in national MDCAT on November 29. For su ch students a special MDCAT is being conducted on December 13, 2020.
