- PESHAWAR – The body of renowned Swat mountaineer ,Syed Ali Shah, has reportedly been located through a drone camera on a glacier at an altitude of approximately 5,200 metres on Falak Sar in the Matiltan area of Swat, but the absence of any viable ground route has made recovery extremely difficult.According to the family and local volunteers, young volunteers from Swat used a drone to trace the missing mountaineer’s body, finally identifying its location on the treacherous glacier. The recovery site is situated in an extremely high-altitude and rugged area of Falak Sar, where access through conventional ground routes is considered virtually impossible because of steep terrain, glaciers and hazardous conditions.
The family of the deceased mountaineer has appealed to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and Chief Minister, Sohail Afridi, to take immediate steps for the recovery of Syed Ali Shah’s body and arrange a rescue operation.
According to the family, a helicopter-based rescue operation appears to be the only feasible option for safely retrieving the body from the remote glacier and bringing it back to his family.The family said that the volunteers have successfully located the body, but they lack the resources and equipment required to undertake such a dangerous high altitude recovery operation.We appeal to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and the relevant authorities to intervene immediately and facilitate a rescue operation, the family said, urging the authorities not to delay the recovery.
The family members and relatives are now waiting anxiously for the authorities to act so that the body can be brought home and laid to rest according to their wishes.A grieving family is waiting for the final sight of their loved one.
