PESHAWAR : May 19, 2023: The Khyber Pukhtunkhaw (KPK) government has constituted a 2-member inquiry committee comprising additional secretary (Judicial), Home and T.As Department as convener and DIG Investigation , KPK as member to probe the firing incident by a police constable that resulted in killing of one innocent school girl and seriously injuring six others.
Alam Khan, a police constable of KPK police had opened fire on a school van in Swat last week killing one innocent girl and leaving other six seriously wounded. The firing at innocent school girls’ van had shocked the nation which was demanding high level independent probe in the incident to fix its responsibility and punch severely to the constable who opened fire at a van carrying school girls.
Succumbing to rising public demand, KPK government has constituted a high level committee to probe the shocking firing incident that caused panic in the people of Swat . Swat has history of such unfortunate incidents. In Taliban era, Swat suffered the most. In recent past , TTP activists resurfaced in Swat creating fears among the people in Swat.
Terms of Reference (ToRs) of the committee included to prepare overall report of the incident, probe service profile of Alam Khan, the police constable who opened fire on the school van, killing one school girl and injuring six others.
The committee will also probe health issues and inquire about mental health of the constable involved in the incident. The committee has been authorised to dig out if the accused constable had any link with some religious group linked to terror activities in Pakistan. The committee will also probe who ordered to the accused constable to carry out duty with automatic gun at a sensitive place in Swat .
