Islamabad : Seventh meeting of National Accreditation Council (NAC-TAQC)of NAVTTC for Technical and Vocational Stream will be held at NAVTTC Headquarters Islamabad. The meeting of the committee was held under the chairmanship of Mian Akram Farid, Chairman Central of Employers’ Organization of Pakistan. Director General National Accreditation/Certification/Registration Dr. Fida Muhammad Bazai and members of the Council also participated in the meeting. The accreditation of TVET institutions was approved in the meeting. In the meeting, the current process related to accreditation was discussed and proposals were presented to the members for further improvement and transparency in the process of accreditation and satisfaction was expressed on its preparation and quality. The meeting was attended by members of Chamber of Commerce and Industry from FPCCI, Islamabad and Chambers of Multan, Sialkot and Muzaffarabad, FPCCI, Sindh, AJK, KP and Baluchistan TEVTAs, Pakistan Engineering Council, Higher Education Commission, National Institute of Science and The Technical Education Accreditation Coordinator participated and discussed the evaluation reports with the participants TVET Institute, QAB, and Centers of Excellence and their programs and gave them accreditation status. Also discussed the accreditation reports of Lahore, Baluchistan and Islamabad and approved them to conduct competency-based training and assessment and issue national certificates on new qualifications under the National Vocational Qualification Framework. Discussions were held regarding research and development and ongoing courses in five centers of excellence to be established across the country by NAVTTC for technical and professional training as per international standards. Mian Akram Farid said that National Accreditation has discouraged fake certification, NAVTTC is playing an important role for the technical education of young people. The greatest need of this era is technical skills and industrial professional education, which is the guarantor of rapid national development and prosperity. He said that modern labs of industry can be used free of cost for training the youth, which includes steel, flour mills, pharmaceutical, oil and ghee, marble, pipe manufacturing, rice processing, textile and hotel industry. That more than 7 million of our people are employed in other countries – these young people are serving in foreign countries by doing technical courses of short duration. From which, the investment of SEZ is 24 billion annually. It can be made up to 40 billion by making the youth skilled. Undoubtedly, the countries which paid attention to it by making it a part of technical education have a higher economic development speed. He added that we are far behind other countries in the production of products. The technical and technical skills of our youth should be used for the production and increase of the goods so that the production and technical sectors can be run on the right lines.
