THathA: Gujjo High School is an old school and it’s the only source to educate students of the area. It has become a hub of problems. The most import important one which needs urgent attention of the concerned authorities is dilapidated building which has literally turned into a ghost and it’s a looming danger for the lives of the students The Gujjo high school has a long list of issues like its labs are closed for years which indicate lack of interest of the provincial government and its concerned departments. Its building is so old and unmaintained that its roofs often leak in rains and the falling of the cement of the roofs has become a routine now. The school lack proper furniture and seeing dilapidated condition of the building a large number of the students have already left the school. Those who are still coming to school fear collapse of the school building anytime.
There are only four classrooms for around 4oo students. The labs, science hall, teachers office, and other facilities are non-existent.
The teachers and students are worried about their safety and lives as the building of the school is a permanent danger for them.
The residents of Gujjo union council having hundreds of villages and Gujjo town are worried about the future of their young generation as the concerned authorities are not taking any interest in the maintenance of the school building. The residents say their repeated calls to the PPP government has gone unnoticed and now they are very much worried about the future of their kids,
Our correspondent, Amin Farooqi, spoke to some parents who deplored that the Sindh Education Department is ignoring repeated calls of the people for repairing of the school building. According to him a few months ago a team of the Sindh Education Department had visited the school on the direction of the Chief Secretary Sindh which was ordered by the Sindh High Court for repair of the Gujjo High School assured the residents and parents of the students that all issues of Gujjo High School will be addressed without any delay but these assurances never matured and even today the parents, teachers and students wail for providing basic facilities like furniture, lab material and other necessities to run the school in proper manner. They also urged the Sindh government to pay heed to the building of Gujjo High school before it get too late (God forbid),
Litafat Ali Khan, head master of Gujjo High School, told NEWSMAN that he repeated raised the issues of the school with Sindh Works Departments and all other high-ups but to no avail.
Gusta Talqa Mir Pur Sakro, senior vice president Ustad Sheraz Mamon, said Gujjo High School building has turned into a ruin and it has posed life threat to the lives of the students and teaching staff. He urged upon the Sindh government to take immediate steps to repair building of the school to protect lives of the students and teaching staff.
