Lahore : Feb 11 , 2024 : The game to form government in the centre is wide open as yet. Top leadership of major political parties is having meetings in the federal capital and Lahore to discuss various options in this regard . Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) is constantly in touch with like- minded parties which have made entry into the parliament.
PMLN supremo ,Nawaz Sharif , has formed a committee of the party to discuss with other parties available channels to form government in the centre. The PMLN committee is going to meet other parties in the next two days to muster maximum support to get a golem number of 172 to form a coalition government in the centre . Meanwhile , PMLN chief , Shahbaz Sharif , has held a meeting with Pakistan People Party (PPP) supremo Asif Ali Zardari and party chief ,Balawal Bhutto , in Lahore for possible alliance in the centre .
According to a joint statement issued after the meeting , both sides discussed various options in view of post elections scenario and agreed on a point that they will do every thing to foil any attempt to avoid any efforts to create political crisis in the country. However , both sides left the issue of a formal agreement to join hands for a coalition government in the centre undecided for at least for 24 hours as PPP leadership wants to put whatever proposal for cooperation were discussed with Shahbaz Sharif in Lahore meeting with CEC of the meeting.
On one hand , PMLN is engaging political parties to discuss options for forming government in the centre and on the other its leaders are woo independents to improve its numerical position in the parliament. So far 4 independents including Chaudhary Qadir Wasim who won as PTI backed candidate have joined PMLN.
