ISLAMABAD, November 24, 2024: Authorities have sealed off all entry and exit points between Islamabad and Rawalpindi in response to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest called by the party’s founder, Imran Khan.
The protest is set to take place across the country today.
In preparation, the government has blocked several major routes, including Faizabad Flyover, Murree Road, Motorway, Rawat, T-Chowk, Taxila, and Margalla, along with key highways like the Murree Expressway, Hazara Expressway, and roads connecting to Punjab. Containers have been placed on these roads, and a heavy police presence is stationed at strategic locations.
Overnight, police conducted raids across the twin cities, resulting in the arrest of more than 170 PTI activists.

Prisoner transport buses have been brought into the city to handle the detainees. Emergency measures have been implemented in hospitals, and rescue agencies are on high alert.
In addition, mobile internet services have been suspended in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, and Attock to limit the spread of protest-related information.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has reached out to PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar, following directives from the Islamabad High Court.

Minister Naqvi emphasized that, under the court’s orders, no processions, sit-ins, or rallies would be allowed in the current circumstances.
He also informed Gohar about the upcoming visit of a high-level Belarusian delegation, led by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, who is scheduled to arrive in Islamabad on November 25. The delegation will remain in the city until November 27.
