Islamabad : Islamabad on Monday rejected an offer of Afghan regime for negotiated settlement of teething issues between the two countries and made it clear that its offer can only be considered if it takes strict action against those terror groups which are launching attacks from Afghanistan against Pakistan.
Following airstrikes in Afghanistan by Pakistan the other day, Taliban regime had offered to Islamabad to find an amicable solution to the dispute.
Pakkstan ‘s response to Taliban regime is crystal clear that first take action against terror groups which are operating against it and then its offer for resumption of talk could be considered seriously.
Pakistan has solid reasons for demanding of Taliban regime to first take action against terrorist groups operating against Pakistan and then its offer may have some logic for resumption of talks.
Pakistan has reminded to Taliban regime that it did not honour any commitment made on the conclusion of Doha talks and its offer for more talks in the given environment makes no sense.
Turkiya United Arab Emirate (UAE) and Saudi Arabia had brokered Doha talks between Pakistan and Afghan regime a few months ago and these talks ended up without any solid commitment from Afghan regime for stopping terrorist organisations from using its soil against Pakistan.
Taliban regime’s non-serious behaviour also irritated the brokers and they raised major questions on the seriousness of Taliban regime on the issue of stopping terrorist organisations operating on India’s behest for carrying out terrorist activities in Pakistan.
Taliban regime’s dubious character in Doha talks has created many serious questions for the policy-makers in Islamabad . This has widened the trust gap between Taliban regime and Pakistan.
In this scenario , the rise in terror attacks on Pakistan from Afghan soil in recent weeks and months has developed strong feelings in the decision-makers in Islamabad that Pakistan has been left with the option except chasing down terrorists in Afghanistan to stop them from causing more loss of precious lives in Pakistan.
In a policy statement, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s political aide , Dr Tariq Fazal , told the Senate on Monday that Pakistan will not compromise on safety and security of its people and security forces and take action against Afghanistan if terrorists continue to attack Pakistan’s security forces and civilians from that country.
