PESHAWAR : The Rehman Medical Institute (RMI), through its Clinical Trials Unit, organized a free screening camp for Hepatitis C in Peshawar with the objective of promoting early diagnosis, raising public awareness about the disease, and facilitating access to advanced treatment for deserving patients.

The screening initiative was conducted under the supervision of Director Research Dr.Naila Aram Hadi and Assistant Manager Yasir Ashraf, while the research program was led by Dr.Taimur Khan.A large number of citizens participated in the camp and showed keen interest in learning about their health status and the risks associated with Hepatitis C.

According to the organizers, more than 100 individuals between the ages of 18 and 85 were screened during the camp. The primary objective of the initiative was to identify patients who meet specific clinical criteria so they could be enrolled in a clinical research program and provided access to modern treatment options.

RMI spokesperson stated that patients who test positive and are declared eligible under the program will receive free treatment. This initiative represents a significant relief for patients and an important step toward combating Hepatitis C, a silent yet potentially dangerous disease affecting the liver.

One of the participants appreciated the effort, noting that he had long suspected possible infection but lacked access to proper testing facilities. He said such free screening camps play a vital role in improving access to healthcare services for ordinary citizens and enable timely diagnosis.Medical experts emphasized that Hepatitis C often progresses without noticeable symptoms in its early stages but can seriously damage the liver over time.

Therefore, timely screening, accurate diagnosis, and prompt treatment remain essential.Camps like this not only help detect the disease early but also guide patients toward appropriate medical care and support.

RMI management appreciated the participation of citizens and the dedicated efforts of the medical and research teams involved, reiterating the institute’s commitment to continuing similar public welfare initiatives aimed at strengthening awareness, trust, and access to effective healthcare services in the future.
