ISLAMABAD; It was December 27, 2007. Pakistan’s first lady prime minister and Pakistan People Party (PPP) chairperson , Benazir Bhutto, left from her house in F-8 sector at around 1.40 pm. She reached at Liaqat Bagh in Rawalpindi where a mamoth public gathering was waiting to listen to its leader. Benazir Bhutto. She rose to a big stage with her close political aides including Amin Fahim, Safdar Abbasi, Naheed Khan and her body gaurds. Now charged big crowed was in her front. She stood up to address it. Her tone was extraordinary. Her body language was different. She declared to tell her jubliant crowed that it was she and her this crowed that was going to save this country…Pakistan.
“I will save Pakistan, you will save Pakistan”, Benazir Bhutto roared at the end of her around one hour long emotional, but purposeful speech.
Now it was time to leave the stage for her. Benazir Bhutto walked down the stage jubliant and triumphant. She had given a clear message to anti Pakistan forces that she would go with Pakistan no matter what it costs to her.
But enemy of Pakiatan was already at work. It had set a final stage to assasinate this great and perhaps last real leader of Pakistan. She was targetted as soon as she stood up from her bomb- proof jeep. The snipper and suicide bomber struck at the same moment to hit the target and eliminate evidence of the murder. Alas, the enemy got successful in its nefarious design to kill the leader of the people of Pakistan who are yet to get the name and identity of the killer of their popular leader.
Her party did come in power and it may come in power again, but it too could not trace the killers of its Benazir. It was perhaps not a priority of her own party.
