THATHA, Abdul Wahab Jokio goth (village) is as old as Pakistan herself. It’s also of extraordinary significane being an old goth on the national highway. Its even greater advantage is its educated population.
Abdul Wahab Jokio goth is perhaps the only village in Sindh which has 100 % litracy rate.
NEWSMAN’s special correspondent for Thatha, Amin Farooqi, visited Abdul Wahab Jokio goth with other local journalists a fww days back to meet with the residents of the goth. He reported this news from the spot. He spoke to some residents to get their point of view on the issue of lack of basic facilities in Abdul Wahab Jokio goth.
Fazila Jokio, an educated young girl of the village told NEWSMAN that Abdul Wahab Jokio goth is a worse example of lack of interest of the government. According to her, since elders of the goth gave top priority to education its entire population is 100 % educated.
Abdul Wahab Jokio goth is not a prioriry for the rulers of the Sindh for ensuring basic facilities like water, sanitation, basic health facilities. Fazila said even in today’s modern age women of the goth use wood as fuel for cooking.
Similarly, she added, the goth is without any medical facility which creates difficulties for its residents when sick. She demanded of Pakistan People Party (PPP) chairman, Bilawal Bhutto, to take notice of the lack of facilities in Abdul Wahab Jokio goth and order for supply of all basic facilities on top priority basis.
