Rawalpindi: The Punjab government has imposed Section 144 for 2 days in Rawalpindi division ahead of Pakistan Tehreek- e -Insaf (PTI) rally.PTI has announced to protest in Rawalpindi on September 28.
According to the order issued by the Punjab Interior Department, during the implementation of Section 144, all kinds of political gatherings, sit-ins, rallies, demonstrations, protests and all such activities will be banned in Rawalpindi Division, while Section 144 will also be enforced on the possession and display of weapons.
The order states that the ban will be applicable on Saturday, September 28 and Sunday, September 29, while representatives of law enforcement agencies will be exempted from the ban.
Section 144 will be enforced in Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal districts of Rawalpindi Division, while 6 companies of Rangers will be deployed in Rawalpindi and Attock on the recommendation of the district administration.
It has been said in the order that there is a fear of armed miscreants coming to Rawalpindi, therefore Section 144 has been imposed to maintain law and order, protect human lives and property.
The Punjab Home Department has written a letter to the federal government for the appointment of Rangers in the division.
It should be remembered that on September 23, Chairman PTI Barrister Gohar had said that he will hold a meeting in Rawalpindi on Saturday, September 28, for which the application for NOC has been submitted.
