ISLAMABAD: Ahsin Bhon of Asma Jahangir group won Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) president election here on Thursday.
According to unofficial result, Bhon got 1548 votes in one- on- one contest. His opponent, Latif Khosa, could bag only 920 votes. Khosa was nominee of Hamid Khan group.
The election of SCBA were held in a cordial atmosphere throughout the day. The voters used their right of vote during the fixed time of voting.
Senior Supreme Court lawyer, Hussnain Raza Kazmi, termed win of Ashin Bhon in SCBA election as a good omen for judicial system of Pakistan and hoped Mr Bhon will bring bench and bar closer. In his comments on Ahsin Bhon’s win Mr Hussnain said ” Ahsin Bhon’s win is primarily win of professional lawyers of Pakistan”.
