ISLAMABAD: August 14,2023: Anwaarul Haq Kakar took oath as 8th interim prime minister of Pakistan here at presidency on Monday.
President, Dr Arif Alvi, administrated the oath from Anwaarul Haq Kakar for the office of the interim prime minister at the presidency in a simple, but graceful ceremony.
The oath- taking ceremony was attended by outgoing prime minister , Shahbaz Sharif , Senate chairman , Sadiq Sanjrani and a number of political personalities.
The new interim prime minister, who hails from Balochistan, was wearing his grey suit for oath ceremony.
Mr Anwaarul Haq Karar had resigned as a senator prior to oath taking for the office of the caretaker prime minister . Senate chairman , Sadiq Sanjrani , who also comes from Balochistan, had notified resignation of Anwaarul Haq Kakar as a member of the senate.
Mr Anwaarul Haq Kakar had become an independent member of the senate in 2018 and later he joined BAP party. He had played a vibrant role as a senator .
Mr Anwaarul Haq Kakar also resigned as a member of BAP party of Balochistan. Mr Kakar’s purpose to resign as a senator and a basic member of BAP party before taking charge of the office of the interim prime minister is to have an independent position for ensuring free and fair elections in the country.
After dissolution of the national assembly last week, leader of the house and opposition leader had a series of meetings to finalise a suitable person for the office of the caretaker prime minister.
Pakistan is supposed to go to general elections by November this year. Since Pakistan is passing through a political and financial crisis it is a huge test of the new interim prime minister to hold non -controversial elections in the country.
It’s generally believed that new interim prime minister will form a small cabinet and deliver good to hold free and fair elections in the country.
Mr Kakar is a powerful interim prime minister as Shahbaz government had given unprecedented powers to the new caretaker prime minister through an amendment during its last days in power to authorise him to take important decisions both adminstrative as well as financial .
