ISLAMABAD:July 20, 2023: The federal government has revoked article 245 to appoint the army across Pakistan to maintain the law and order during Moharram ur Harram. The army personnel will perform duty during processions of Moharram.
According to a notification issued here by the federal Interior ministry, the army is being deployed across Pakistan during Moharram ur Harram to preempt any attempt to pose security risk to the people during Moharram ur Harram.
The federal Interior ministry in its order to this effect said the decision to revoke article 245 of the constitution for deployment of the army across Pakistan, Azad Jammu Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan has been taken on the request of the provinces and the government of Azad Jammu Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan.
According to the federal Interior ministry the notification for appointment of the army across Pakistan has been sent to the provinces , AJK and GB government.
Usually , the police provide security and maintain law and order situation in the country during Mohrram but this time the situation is different. Pakistan is facing serious law and order situation and the terrorists activities are on the rise across Pakistan.
Pakistan has received information of attacks of the terrorists during the Mohrarram ur Harram and on the same basis it decided to appoint the army across Pakistan. The order of the federal Interior ministry to this effect will also be application for AJK and GB.
Pakistan has witnessed huge rise in terror attacks in the recent months. On the basis of these heightened terrorists activities across Pakistan, the government has put the army on high alert to maintain security during Moharram processions.
