ISLAMABAD : All Pakistan Kissan Ittehad (APKI) has emerged as a whistle blower against blood-sucking Independent Power Producers (IPPs) . APKI chief, Khalid Khokhar , elaborated IPPs’ tale of plundering in a recently held presser in Multan. His arguments that every household in Pakistan is victim of IPPs’ plundering and after 30-year money-making spree, IPPs have left every Pakistani household high and dry. His emotional appeal to the army chief for taking action against all those who are plundering Pakistan for over three decades through IPPs must not go unheard. APKI is the most effective representative body of the farming community of Pakistan. Khalid Khokhar, being a progressive grower himself, knows how unbearable electricity rates are damaging Pakistan’s agriculture and beyond. He is 100 percent right in saying that every household , industry, commercial and business house has been made hostage to the costly power. Since , Khalid Khokhar knows that the political leadership of this country is a beneficiary and a party to IPPs’ plundering he made a passionate appeal to the army chief to get Pakistanis rid of this shackle tightened around the neck of every Pakistani by founders of IPPs.
IPPs have put Pakistan’s stability at risk. Those who introduced IPPs policy in 1994 in Pakistan literally turned this God gifted country into an unending trap of corruption. Over the years IPPs’ beneficiaries have plundered hundreds of billions of dollars from Pakistan. To justify IPPs needs, its founders of course the rulers stopped development of all those projects which could give cheaper electricity to the consumers. Electricity is a lifeline in today’s modern era. Costly electricity can put stability of a country in danger and those who brought the concept of IPPs in Pakistan were fully aware of Pakistan. IPPs is a deep-rooted conspiracy against Pakistan. In a recent media report, it was revealed that more than 50 % IPPs are being paid in dollars without their any contribution to Pakistan’s system. The question arises are those who created a network to plunder Pakistan in the name of IIPPs should not be held accountable?. Another question is mind boggling for Pakistanis as if those who are paying to IPPs in dollars without getting electricity from them when Pakistan is facing imminent threat to default on sovereign liabilities be allowed to go home scot- free?.
Mr Khokhar raised these questions in his press conference in details and demanded of the army chief to move in and save Pakistan lest IPPs’ monster lest it cause more loss to Pakistan. His argument is full of justifications. Being a farmers he is rightly pointing out that the cost of electricity, unbearable due to IPPs, is going to devastate Pakistan’s agriculture which is ,undoubtedly, the last hope for Pakistan’s sailing through difficult times.
Mr Khalid spoke out full-throttle calling for forensic audit of IPPs to establish the volume of plundering by its founders and blood-sucking investors. He also rightly pointed out that once forensic audit of IPPs is done , it will establish its all characters and then each one of them be given exemplary punishment.
