ISLAMABAD – In a significant step toward enhancing Pakistan’s cybercrime response capacity, the Government of Pakistan, Ministry of Interior & Narcotics Control, Islamabad, has formally initiated the process for requisitioning highly skilled technical officials from the Pakistan Army’s Technical Wing for deployment in the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA). Through official correspondence dated 13th December 2026, the Ministry conveyed directives to the Director General, NCCIA, enclosing a communication received from the Ministry of Defence (Defence Division) regarding the urgent induction of technical expertise to support cybercrime investigations and digital forensic operations. Earlier, in a detailed letter addressed to the Federal Minister for Interior & Narcotics Control, Syed Khurram Ali, Director General NCCIA, highlighted the rapidly evolving nature of cyber threats and the pressing need to reinforce the agency’s technical backbone. He emphasized that tackling sophisticated cyber-enabled crimes now demands advanced expertise in digital forensics, cyber intelligence, and network security. To meet these operational challenges, NCCIA has formally requested the placement of specialized technical personnel from the Pakistan Army’s Technical Wing for an initial period of two years, extendable based on operational requirements. The proposed deployment includes:

According to the proposal, these officials will serve in critical technical domains, providing operational support in cyber investigations, digital forensic analysis, intelligence processing, and network security operations. Their pay, allowances, and administrative matters will be managed by NCCIA in accordance with applicable government regulations. This move reflects a strategic institutional collaboration aimed at bolstering Pakistan’s cyber security architecture. By leveraging the technical proficiency, discipline, and operational experience of the Army’s Technical Wing, NCCIA seeks to significantly enhance its investigative efficiency and strengthen its capability to counter increasingly complex cyber threats across the country. The matter has been marked for urgent attention, underscoring the government’s priority to secure the national cyber landscape and ensure a more robust, technically equipped response to cybercrime.
