ISLAMABAD : As political temperature rises in the country, the coalition government led by prime minister , Shahbaz Sharif, has decided to file a reference against incumbent president, Dr Arif Alvi, ousted prime minister , Imran Khan and two other top functionaries of his government for abrogation of the constitution . .
According to some media reports , the Law ministry has started preparing a reference to invoke article 6 against president , Dr Arif Alvi, former prime minister , Imran Khan, former deputy speaker national assembly , Qasim Suri and governor Punjab, Umar Sarfraz Cheema .
Law minister , Azim Nazir Tarar told a TV anchor on Thursday that his ministry would prepare a reference against all those who abrogated the constitution during no confidence motion against ousted prime minister , Imran Khan.
The Law minister said ” president Arif Alvi and Qasim Suri abrogated constitution on the direction of former prime minister and dissolved the national assembly when the no confidence motion was pending in the house for voting against then prime minister , Imran Khan. Former deputy speaker national assembly, Qasim Turi had declared the no confidence motion as illegal and rejected it when he had no such authority that led to dissolution of the national assembly. The reference will include all events that occured before and after the no confidence motion .
Governor Punjab , Umar Sarfraz Cheema is likely to face article 6 for denying taking oath from Hamza Shahbaz. Umar Sarfraz Cheema is continuously violating the constitution by not taking the oath from chief minister elect . Governor Punjab, instead following the constitution, is conniving with president Dr Alvi to delay oath taking of the chief minister elect.
