ATC extends Imran Khan’s interim bail till Sept. 12

ISLAMABAD : September 1, 2022: An Anti Terrorism Court (
ATC) Islamabad on Thursday extended interim bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e -Insaf (PTI) chairman , Irman Khan , till September 12, 2022.

The court extended interim bail to Imran Khan and asked him to submit a challah of Rs 100000 as surety.

When Raja Jawad Abbas Hasan , judge of Anti Terrorism Court Islamabad, resumed hearing into the case in the morning, Imran Khan, was not present in the court. His counsel , Babar Awan, pleaded before the court that his client be granted bail in the case . He informed the court that his client is facing serious threat to his life as the police has issued a security alert that Imran Khan could be attacked and he should not expose himself to the public.

On this the judge observed that there was no example that any accused was granted bail in his absence.

Meanwhile, Babar Awan had submitted a plea for bail of Imran Khan. He informed the court that some new sections have been added in the first information report (FIR) submitted previously against his client.

Attorney general informed to the court that an accused can be granted bail after his presence before the court.

After initial hearing, the court deferred the case till 12 noon.
When the court resumed hearing Imran Khan had reached in the court.
The judge questioned as to how a section 7 of Anti Terror Act 1997:could be used inserted in an FIR against any accused unless he commits any terror act.
He inquired which Kalashnikov was used by the accused and which suicide jacket was recovered from him to justify insertion of Section 7 of the Anti Terror Act?.

The court on Imran Khan’s presence extended his interim bail till September 12, 2022.

Babar Awan was of the view during his arguments that the federal government and Islamabad police would be responsible if something happens to Imran Khan.
