Islamabad :The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) spokesman on Wednesday said as a result of lifting of the ban by British Aviation Regulator , the national carrier is poised to fly in UK’s sky again.
In a statement , PIA spokesman , Abdullah Hafiz, said lifting of the ban by UK Aviation Regulator is a proof of PIA meeting international safety standards . He added that PIA is again ready to fly in UK ‘s sky again.
PIA being a Pakistan’s national carrier enjoyed reputation of a successful prime airline globally and then Ghulam Sarwar Khan, then PTI minister of Civil Aviation of Pakistan had issued a statement at the National Assembly floor in 2020, claiming that majority of PIA pilots has fake flying licenses. Nobody knows what an illiterate minister of PTI aimed by issuing such a damaging statement at the National Assembly floor and on whose behest he did so, but it ruined Pakistan’s once prime national carrier–PIA. It resulted in slapping of ban by almost all major Aviation Regulators including UK and EU.
After PTI rule , Pakistan’s authorities struggled to clear the dust of fake licenses of the pilots and get clearance from UK, EU and other countries for re-entry of PIA into their skies.
It took around five years and finally , UK has lifted the ban on PIA and now its going to fly into UK sky shortly. Re-entry of PIA into UK sky is a good development for Pakistan. It will help PIA by to fly to key destinations and overcome its financial woes.
PIA spokesman added that the management of the national carrier will resume operation to UK once it gets schedule for it.
The spokesman thanked prime minister , Shahbaz Sharif , Defence minister , Khawaja Asif , Defence ministry , British High Commissioner to Pakistan , Jane Marriott , Civil Aviation authorities for contributing to struggle aimed at lifting of ban on PIA flying to UK.
