Lahore ) Dhaka : Bangladesh won the series- decider by 11 runs against Pakistan on Sunday at Sher e Bangla Stadium in Dhaka.
Pakistan won the toss and put Bangladesh into bat. Bangladesh put a good total of 290 runs for 5 wickets in stipulated 50 overs game and set a target of 291 runs for Pakistan. Its batting line in particular, Tanzid Hasan played a great inning and scored 107 off 107 balls. His heroic put Bangladesh in a strong position to win the final game.
Haris Rauf remained a successful bowler for Pakistan. He took 3 Bangladeshi wickets for 52 runs. Tohid Hirdoy scored 48 runs off 44 balls. Litton Das scored 41 runs for 51 balls. Shaheen Shah Afridi and Abrar Ahmed took 1 wicket each.
Pakistan’s start to achieve the target of 291 runs was not up to the mark. Its three top order batters including Sahabzada Farhan , Maaz Sadaqat and Ghauri , could not take their individual score to double digits.
Early loss of wickets put Pakistan under pressure from the beginning of the match. It was Salman Ali Agha who rose to the occasion. He put up a single-handed fight against Bangladeshi bowlers and hit a ton to bring Pakistan back into the game. After 42 overs, Pakistan was 227 and it needed 64 runs from 8 overs at an average of 8 runs per over. Since Salman Ali Agha was in the driving seat and he was in a good mood to put up a heathy game to take Pakistan home. But Taskin Ahmed struck again for Bangladesh.
After Salman A Agha’s dismissal , Shaheen Shah Afridi took the charge. He took 2 sixes in the second last over and it seemed he may make last over comeback and get required 14 runs in the last over. However , Bangladeshi bowler made a winning move and did not offer any opportunity to Shaheen Shah to hit bjg sixes which led Bangladesh to win the thriller and seal three ODI series against Pakistan.
For Bangladesh Taskin Ahmed bowled impressively and got 4 wickets for 49 runs. Mustafizur Rehman got three wickets for 54 runs and Nahid Rana bowled out 2 Pakistani bowlers for 62 runs. Tanzid Hasan was declared the man of the match.Nahid Rana was declared the man of the series.
