Bilawal on PTI Clashes: Dialogue or Baton, Stability Must Prevail

KARACHI, November 30, 2024: Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), has sharply criticized the opposition, particularly Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), for their confrontational politics, calling for stability in the country through either dialogue or forceful measures.

Speaking to party workers and supporters via video link on PPP’s 57th foundation day, Bilawal urged the “non-political opposition” to adopt democratic norms in order to ensure economic stability.

He argued that the major opposition parties in Pakistan were neither political nor democratic in nature, stressing that both the opposition and the government share the responsibility of maintaining the country’s stability.

Bilawal warned that if the opposition continued with its current approach, it would lead to negative consequences for both themselves and the nation.

The statement followed PTI’s march on Islamabad earlier this week, sparked by Imran Khan’s call for a final protest.

The demonstration turned violent, with intense clashes between PTI supporters and law enforcement. At least five security personnel, including three Rangers and two policemen, lost their lives in the violence.

PTI claimed that at least 12 of their workers were killed, with several others still missing.

The protest was against the alleged illegal detention of Imran Khan and other party leaders, as well as accusations of election rigging and the 26th Constitutional Amendment.
