Peshawar has been infamous for bomb blasts, but this particular blast is from the past, as this particular picture brought forth fine many memories.
The handsome personality on the left is the gentleman Prince from Swat, Honourable Miangul Mahmud Aurangzeb, Dean of Khyber Medical University. My school senior from the Public School Sangota, Swat. Our late legendary PT Master, Late Syed Munawar Hussain Shah, related to me how impressive the young Prince was as a child, leading his class in the march past to the delight of his affectionate mother, Honourable Late Begum Naseem Ayub Aurangzeb., on the “Parents Day “, during the early days of the School founding in 1965.
The last time, we crossed our paths was at his home in Saidu Sharif, where I travelled to attend the Janaza of Late Prince Adnan Aurangzeb, to whom I was greatly attached and so was him as I found him totally overwhelmed by shock and grief by the untimely departure of his elder brother.
The person who is giving the award is the legendary bold and brave Honourable Riaz Khan Mehsud, incumbent Commisioner Peshawar . To be honest this man is a born leader and does not blink an eye to any danger or blackmail that makes him formidable in his circle of both friends and foes.
I am honoured knowing them now as a family, because his brother Lt. Col Fazal Khan Mehsud, is known to me back from his days in ISPR and I found him a rare breed on many counts, be in the field or on the staff appointments. His analytical skills coupled with expression both written and verbal makes me both his friend and fan . On the extreme right is Honourable Shafi Ullah Khan, Deputy Commisioner Peshawar about whom I heard to be a competent officer, who keeps his hard task master bosses, satisfied with his hard work and devotion to duty.
And now the least but not last, is the recipient of the Best Actor Award in the Drama Serial Arman, Honourable Syed Muntazim Shah, a born artist, blessed with inborn qualities of an actor, producer, film maker and presenter.
I worked with Muntazim on two projects, one on the documentary ” Freedom In The Dark” a true story of the kidnapping of my two personal friends from the Pakistan Customs, Honourable Karam Elahi and Sadiq Akbar . The other being the very first documentary on the 65 years history of Cadet College Hasan Abdal, “The Spiritual Heartland”, and I found him a real professional, who had ready solution for every production problem.
My humble tribute to those on the stage and in the Auditorium for being part of this memorable event.
