A nation addicted to begging for survival is dammed when they are least bothered about their climate, depleting water resource and dwindling staple of Wheat is destined to kill each other for a loaf of bread when their own bureaucrats ensure the last grain of the Imported wheat gets rotten in the hot and humid climate not being packed in food grade packing to ensure the precious commodity is preserved and kept save for human consumption.
Keeping in view the health hazards and criminal wastage of wheat flour (atta) in a society where the poor dies for a loaf of bread , PSQCA had issued a mandatory SRO 46 (KE) / 2017 in 2017 to ban the use of non-food grade packing bag for all food items including wheat flour (atta) to stop its wastage , but none could implement it even Imran Khan considered as champion of the green revolution . Why is food no priority of the state least bothered of its citizens of who live and who die, , bracing itself for a French like revolution that they can hardly foresee.
If Prime minister, Shahbaz Sharif , can do nothing to combat inflation at least he can ensure the last grain of food is not wasted and kept safe for human consumption through implementation of the 7 years old SRO to ban all non food grade packing for all grains and save Pakistani lives both from health hazards and starvation.
Where Imran failed to implement the long non implemented SRO despite dressed in his national attire moving around confidently surrounded by his officials that Shahbaz can surely implement wearing his cowboy hat and long shoes, being credited for using the stick against the bureaucracy where the carrot fails to deliver.
It is high time that last drop of water and grain saved if the purpose is to avert a civil war as food crisis will be the ultimate test of the nation’s endurance forcing them to come out on the streets for their survival.
