Come help Afghanistan: Islamabad OIC session urges world

US should prefer Afghans over Taliban; PM

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan hosted an inportant conference of Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) foreign ministers on Afghanistan here on Sunday.
The OIC FMs conference discussed one point agenda as to how Muslim countries could help Afghanistan to come out of its worsening human crisis.
Pakistan hosted OIC summit after 41 years.
According to the official announcement , foreign ministers of dozens of Muslim countries participated in OIC session.
The OIC secretary general, Ibrahim Taha, in his address to the conference said Afghans were suffering for the last 40 years and the world should move quickly now to help them in these hard times. He congratulated Pakistan for organising a successful session on Afghanistan.
Saudi Arabia pledges one billion Riyal during the session. Saudi foreign minister in his address said Afghans were waiting for our help. He called upon the whole world that it should take Afghan problem seriously and come forward to help needy Afghans.
The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) opened- up an account for Afghanistan and urged upon the world to contribute in the account to help Afghanistan.. The IDB representative said
by learning from the past, it was necessary to help Afghanistan in these difficult times. The United Nations (UN) representative said
restablishing of Afghan banking system was important. He appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to help Afghan people and said
arrangements for OIC were extremely up to the mark.
Prime minister, Imran Khan, in his address called upon the OIC to come forward without wasting any time to help Afghanistan to avert its imminent human crisis. The prime minister warned that delay in help to Afghan government can create dangerous crisis that would impact the whole world. The prime minister particularly addressed to the United State (US) and asked it to give up its attitude to ignore Afghanistan . He said it was the time for US to come forward to help Afghan people.
He also called upon the Muslim Ummah to play its role to dispel impression of Islamophobia. He also gave a clear message to OIC that it should not forget Kashmir and Palestine where Muslims are being put to worst kind of brutality and oppression.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi said Afghan delegation was invited to attend the summit on special invitation. The purpose of holding OIC was to give a strong message to the world to help Afghanistan to avert looming humqn crisis. He said there was urgent need to open financial and banking channels for Afghanistan. Foreign minister urged upon the OIC to move quickly to help Afghanistan to help its people who are without food and shelter in fast deteriorating winter season.
Information minister, Fawad Hussain Chaudhary, said Pakistan provided Rs 40 billion to Afghanistan in recent1 months to help badly needed assistance to help Afghans.
