Peshawar – The recent results of the Intermediate (First Year and Second Year) examinations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have sparked widespread criticism, with various Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education coming under fire. The Mardan Board, in particular, is facing the harshest scrutiny.
Students, parents, and education experts have alleged that the 2025 Intermediate results released by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Mardan are marred by serious irregularities and unacceptable flaws in the paper checking process.According to critics, many students who had excelled in their First Year examinations were awarded unreasonably and unfairly low marks in the Second Year. This situation has caused immense frustration and mental distress among hardworking students and their families.
Parents and teachers argue that such discrepancies not only undermine the efforts of dedicated students but also jeopardize their future prospects.Education experts have therefore demanded that the answer sheets of the top 20 position holders be uploaded to the board’s official website in the interest of transparency. They have also called for the answer scripts of students who performed well in First Year but unexpectedly received lower marks in Second Year to be shown to the concerned students and parents.
Furthermore, there is a growing demand for an independent audit of the existing paper checking system, along with fundamental reforms to prevent such shortcomings in the future.
Experts have warned that if concrete steps are not taken to improve academic standards, the credibility of government initiatives aimed at strengthening the higher education system in the province will remain under question.
